Giving back to our community…
The owners and staff of CCMS demonstrate their commitment to meeting the needs of local families not only through their programs, but also through a commitment to community involvement and volunteerism.
In cooperation with our colleagues at Kids in Distress Services of St. Clair and the generous donations of local businesses, CCMS organizes a silent auction each spring at Birchwood Mall. Staff, clients, family and friends volunteer their time and energy to help make this event a success. 100% of the proceeds of the auction go directly to families in St. Clair County and are disseminated throughout the year by our staff to meet specific needs encountered by our CCMS clients.
During the holidays, the staff of CCMS again volunteer their time and efforts to manage a Christmas program which links needy families and children with “sponsors” from the community who can help to provide Christmas gifts and/ or household necessities through donations of cash or specific items. These families are referred through the counselors and program staff of CCMS as well as DHS staff and other CCMS partners.
CCMS also co-sponsors a food truck through the Eastern Michigan Food Bank each fall. The staff of the agency help publicize the food give-away and then volunteer their time to help pass out food to the hundreds of area residents who attend each year.
In addition to the many special events we manage each year that help families in need, CCMS also has a pantry on-site which is available to our staff 365 days a year to help meet the emergency needs of their clients. Our pantry is stocked with food staples, personal hygiene necessities, cleaning supplies, diapers, infant formula, and many other items which may be needed by the clients we serve. These items are donated or purchased by our agency as part of our commitment to our clients. |
